Lot: 2		Nathaniel Barber “Boston Tea Party” Participant, Signed as Acting “Muster Master” Massachusetts State Naval Officer NATHANIEL BARBER (1728-1787). Boston “Tea Party” active participant, Barber was a prominent Boston merchant and Patriot, served on the Town’s Committees of Correspondence and Public Safety, and after the war was appointed State Naval Officer of the Port of Boston, Revolutionary War Muster Master for Suffolk County, Commissary of Boston’s military stores until 1781. Lot: 3		1799 “Thomas Barclay” Acting British Consul General in New York City a Prior "Loyal American Regiment" British Tory Major & Attorney Signed “Loyalty Oath of Military Service” American Patriot Col. James Holmes, 4th NY Regt. THOMAS BARCLAY (1753-1830). Colonial New York Attorney, Protg of New York Governor and Continental Congress President John Jay, who had served in the British Tory “Loyal American Regiment” through the Revolutionary War. Barclay was removed to Nova Scotia as a Loyalist, later led the British Committees to Determine United States and Canadian Border. Estimate: $1,200 - $1,600
Lot: 4		1932 “Irving Berlin” Typed Letter Signed to the famed Columnist and Broadcaster Walter Winchell IRVING BERLIN (1888-1989). American composer and lyricist. His music forms a large part of the “Great American Songbook”; he published his first song, "Marie from Sunny Italy", in 1907, and became known for international hits such as "Alexander's Ragtime Band" and was also an owner of the “Music Box Theatre” on Broadway; his Broadway musical and 1943 film “This Is the Army”, with Ronald Reagan, had Kate Smith singing Berlin's "God Bless America", first performed in 1938. Lot: 10		WILLIAM COWPER the British Anti-Slavery Advocate and Poet Signed 1760 Annuity Payment Document made by “His Majesty's Receipt of Exchequer.” WILLIAM COWPER (1731-1800). English Poet and Hymnodist, wrote “God moves in a mysterious way / His wonders to perform.”, also wrote a number of Anti-Slavery poems including the historic “The Negro's Complaint” (1788) which was often quoted by Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. during the American Civil Rights movement. Governor longer than any other individual; Goldsmith by trade admitted a Freeman in 1684, was Assistant in 1696, Major of the Colony forces in 1698, and was elected Governor in 1698. Thomas Cranston was an Associate Justice of the Rhode Island Supreme Court from August 1763 to May 1764, and served as Speaker of the Rhode Island House of Representatives at the time; the town of Cranston, Rhode Island was created in 1754 and historians believe either Cranston, his grandfather, or father Samuel Cranston became the namesake of Cranston. The first page of the first town record book of Cranston bears the inscription "the gift of Thomas Cranston to the town called Cranston." Estimate: $800 - $1,200
Lot: 13		General "G. A. Custer" Signed Vignette Promissory Note One of Only Two Known Existent Being Signed by Custer GEORGE ARMSTRONG CUSTER (1839-1876).
