c. 1825, American Large Leather Covered Wood Brass Tacks Decorated Travel Trunk, Haskell Dutch, Boston, with Its Original Maker’s Paper Label Intact, Near Fine.
This Leather Covered Wood Travel Trunk measures about 20.5” long x 10.5” wide x 7.5” tall. Its original front panel lock is intact with its key located inside the trunk. It’s maker’s original printed Paper Label is located inside the top lid and reads, in full:
“Haskell Dutch, Saddle, Harness and Trunk Maker, Hanover 26 Street, Boston, Mass.”
Light blue Paper-lined interior, both leather lid straps are separated, yet their brass holding tacks are present. The top lid and upper side portions are covered with original tan leather, some areas of tearing and pieces lacking from use and wear, particularly at the back of the lid from being constantly being opened. Added decorative brass tacks, leather is dry and flaking. Original black metal carrying handles located on each end. |
