1850 President Zachary Taylor Color Memorial Ribbon, Sullivan-Fischer ZT-M1, Framed, Very Fine.
This Zachary Taylor Embossed “Mourning” Ribbon, measuring 8” x 4” being printed on a white waxed cotton. This Ribbon displays a Gold-Gilt American Eagle clutching a red, white and blue American Flag, below a gilt Portrait of Taylor with the legend, “President Zachary Taylor Born in 1784, Died July 9th, 1850” in black ink, surrounded by gilt scrollwork. Beneath the portrait is a black funerary urn, and at the bottom reads:
“THE LAST COHERENT WORDS OF THE VENERABLE PATRIOT, PRESIDENT ZACHARY TAYLOR - ‘I die - I am expecting the summons - I am ready to meet death - I have endeavored to faithfully discharge my duty - I am sorry to leave my friends!”
This ribbon displays some light overall tone that is a bit heavier along the top edge with a few tone spots at center right. Mounted to a card stock and placed under glass in a plain, wooden frame under glass to an overall size of 10.5” x 6.75” (not inspected out of frame). |
