Brass curtain tieback with the inscription E PLURIBUS UNUM and featuring an early design federal American Heraldic Eagle, circa 1800. The inscription E Pluribus Unum was first used on the U.S. $5 gold pieces struck in 1795 and this was likely made shortly after. 3 3/4" long x 2 1/2" diameter. A handsome and useful Patriotic memento from the early days of the American Republic, in excellent condition. |
