c. 1820, President George Washington Bust Profile Silhouette, Oval Framed, Very Fine. This early American Federal Period Bust Profile Silhouette is Hand-cut and shaped from a heavy black cardstock placed on a white background, no maker, date or place. It is housed in a period oval frame under glass, measuring overall 4.25” x 5.75” and includes the brass suspension loop at top. The underlying tan color backing card has a minor outer edge chip at 7:00 lower left not affecting the silhouette as shown. A creative design with the image carefully cut to expose details of George Washington’s clothing at his neck and breast, plus to show nice detail to his hair. |
