(1902-Dated) Hand-Painted Original Artwork Watercolor Portrait on Heavy Artist’s Card Stock, After the c. 1800 Engraving of General George Washington by J. Collyer, Hart-141, Baker-76, Choice Very Fine.

This Original Artwork has the eye appeal and appearance of a period watercolor painting. It is designed after the rare J. Collyer Engraving, which was painted by J. Wright, listed as Hart-141, Baker-76. This portrait is very attractive for its display appearance, with a central bust profile portrait of George Washington in his military uniform with a banner below reading, “G. WASHINGTON.” Below handwritten on the inner mat oval surround reads: “Painted by J. Wright. - Engraved by J. Collyer.”

Nicely oval matted and modern framed for display, appears to be on heavy artist’s card stock having some scattered minor in-painting, not removed from frame, having yellow, green and brown colors with highlights of crisp white. The oval display portion at center itself measures 7.75" x 10.75" and is framed to an overall size of 13.5" x 16.5". This original artwork has a notation “1902” on the frame reverse, possibly indicating when created. Overall, a lovely historical Watercolor Portrait of General George Washington ready to hang on display.
