A desirable Abraham Lincoln by J. C. Buttre (1821-1893), engraver, 1864. This lovely quality black and white Lithograph has a central Portrait of Lincoln, engraved after the famous original photograph by Mathew Brady, shown surrounded with vignettes designed by W. Momberger. Measures by sight about 14.5” x 10” being nicely Matted and custom decoratively Framed, viewed under Plexiglas. Frame size about 21” x 16”. This engraving is sharp and clean with faint even tone as typical. The vignettes include scenes of Frontier Patriots, Fugitive Slaves, an American Warrior Trampling the Dragon of “Rebellion” underfoot, and Columbia pointing the way to the future. Facsimile signature, “A. Lincoln” printed below a central theme of “UNION” with hands clasp in friendship. Not examined out of frame. Impressive, and ready to hang on display. |
