c. 1800 Late 18th century, Outstanding Woman’s Gold Pendant and Chain, with Hand-Painted Oval Watercolor under Glass, depicting a Beautiful Maiden shown Freeing a Bird from its Cage, decorated with Ten Matched Pearls and having a custom release for the Gold Chain on one side, Extremely Fine.

This Woman’s Oval Pendant measures about 1.5” x 1.5” (5 Pearls being attached to each side) with a 14.5” long Gold suspension chain attached. There are no gold quality, maker, date or place markings, yet obviously beautifully Handcrafted by a skilled jeweler. The Watercolor scene is of a lovely woman sitting on a large rock, holding a bird perched on her left hand, in her right hand is atop a large birdcage on the ground next to her. The theme shows her freeing the bird by releasing it from its cage. A theme possibly related to her thoughts of “Woman’s Freedom” or a patriotic American theme of her greater freedoms at that time. The Pendant is adorned with a surround of Ten matched Pearls, Five on each side, with each individually attached with fine gold wire loops. This Pendant is complete with only slight wear and ready to gift or display.
