1837 U.S. Army Document to Andrew Kenton Believed to be the Grandson of famed Frontiersman Simon Kenton

June 30, 1837-Dated, Manuscript Document, the United States Army Supplying Tents to Andrew Kenton, Believed to be the Grandson of Frontiersman Simon Kenton, Choice Very Fine.

This manuscript document is 1 page, measuring 8" x 6.5". Headed "The United States to Andrew Kenton", it itemizes a large quantity of tents supplied to Kenton, namely including: "49 Wall Tents, 37 Tent Flyes, 121 Common Tents". Previous owner states that Kenton appears to be the Grandson of Simon Kenton (1755-1836), famed frontiersman & soldier who served in Virginia, Kentucky, and Ohio, who a friend of Daniel Boone and Isaac Shelby; Captured by the Pawnees, tortured and rescued by his old friend, the Renegade White Pawnee Chief, Simon Girty. Docket on the blank reverse reads: “No 146 - Andrew Kenton June 30th, 1837”. Nicely handwritten in bold rich brown ink on laid period paper.
