The lyrics are printed in black down the center of the page with a decorative border surrounding. The chorus, though only printed once in its entirety, is repeated twice as follows: "Merry, warbling birds -- joyous, happy birds -- Oh! how sad your song to me; Merry, warbling birds -- joyous, happy birds -- O'er the grave of Lotta Lee.
