Jedediah Snowden's Payment for "Signing Bills of Credit" State of PA. Currency Issues of April 29th & June 1, 1780
May 29, 1780-Dated Revolutionary War, Manuscript Document Signed, Payment Receipt for the Signing of Pennsylvania Bills of Credit, Philadelphia, (for the State Currency Issues of April 29, 1780 & June 1, 1780), Choice Very Fine.
An exceedingly rare original Payment made to Jedediah Snowden by the General Assembly of Pennsylvania for his "Signing Bills of Credit" (Paper Money) according to the Act of the General Assembly passed March 25, 1780. This remarkable Handwritten document is clean, fresh well written on period laid paper and is easily readable. There is one clear strip of reinforcement tape on its blank reverse side to reinforce its centerfold, yet overall having excellent eye appeal for display. This receipt is also signed by his brother Isaac Snowden in the amount of 6 payment. Jedediah Snowden is listed as having signed the two Pennsylvania State Paper Money Currency Issues of April 29, 1780 and June 1, 1780. Signed by MICHAEL SHUBART and referred to David Rittenhouse as State Treasurer, for payment. A remarkable authentic Document, related directly to the official signing of two rare Pennsylvania Colonial Currency issues both emitted during the American Revolutionary War.
