This moving Black Americana Folk Art style Oil Painting depicts an African-American woman looking out of her apartment building window, with a pensive look upon her face, a large American Flag shown draped hanging over her windowsill held in place by two flower pots. Measuring 24" x 12" (by sight), this 20th century Oil Painting is on stretched canvas Signed by the artist, "M. Block" at lower right. This original Painting is in very nice condition, housed in its original 29" x 16.5" gold-gilt and painted ornamented wood frame. The Black woman's white hat complements the vibrant red and white stripes of the American flag, drawing the viewer's eyes toward the central subject. What is she thinking? What is she looking at? Was there a special occasion that called for displaying her flag, or is she patriotic on this day or making a social comment?
