c 1860 Civil War Union Officer Photograph 43rd Regiment
c. 1860s Civil War Period, Albumen Photograph on Card, Union Officer of the 43rd Regiment, Very Fine.
The back of the Photo has the written notation "Grandpa Vogel, Mary Seil's father." This image has been identified as Colonel Adolph Dengler, 43rd Illinois Volunteer Infantry. It measures about 6 3/16" by 4 1/8". Research suggests this unit may be from the 43rd Regiment by look at the enlargement of his hat, the insignia is for the 43rd Regiment is clear to read. There is some foxing, tanning, smudges and edge/corner wear not affecting the lovely photograph, which has excellent rich contrast and focus for display.
