Original Speech where William Seward remarks that the daily sessions of the Senate were usually three or four hours long, but this current session had reached 14 hours! Light toning, first and last page partially separated at top binding, disbound, measures 8.9" x 5.75", 14 pages. Seward, the future Cabinet member for President Lincoln, rails against Northern apologists and supporters of Slavery, in part: "I regard Slavery as morally unjust, politically unwise, and socially pernicious, in some degree, in every community where it exists... I think that the addition of every new slave State increases and prolongs the disturbances of peace and harmony in the country." Great Slave related historic content. |
