|
Beautiful examples of 19th-century color lithograph ad cards, approx. 4.75" x 2.5" each. Six different images, all with advertising text printed on the verso.
1. A key example is an image of a young girl in bed with her doll, and holding aloft a sprig of cherries--very enchanting. Other titles include:
2. "AYER'S CHERRY PECTORAL": A young girl with flowers watches two birds eating cherries on a tree branch.
3. "AYER'S AGUE CURE": A log cabin on a lake front, and an alligator with frogs.
4. "THE FIGHT FOR THE STANDARD": A battle scene between two soldiers on horseback, one carrying a red, white, and blue banner printed with "Ayer's Pills."
5. "AYER'S SARSAPARILLA": ["The Deacon"], featuring a bespectacled man in gold and red lounging jacket, holding a bottle, while his wife leans on his shoulder.
6. "AYER'S CHERRY PECTORAL," featuring a maiden picking cherries in a grassy field. A few cards have very minor toning and staining, and three with mounting remnants and/or scraped ad copy on verso.
