c. 1840, Unusual Heavy Tin Metal American Whale Oil Lamp, Choice Very Fine.
|
This interesting, well constructed solid metal Lamp measures about 10.5" tall and 7" round at the deep dish style base, meant to catch any leak of oil. It has a tall chamber-stick with cylindrical reservoir and columnar shaft with a slot for a fabric wick across the top center. Its tin carrying handle located on one side is solidly intact. Overall, quite clean showing only light wear and a nice even natural patina. |
