1881-Dated Lot of Three interesting and historic President James Garfield Assassination related items.
Three James Garfield Assassination Items include:
1. A mimeographed “Official Bulletin” issued by the White House on September 13, 1881, six days before his death, to update the public on Garfield’s stuggle to recover measuring 9” x 7.5” stating: “At the examination of the President at 8 AM today, the temperature was 99.4; pulse 100; respiration 20. He passed a comfortable night....” Mounting strip on verso; otherwise Very Fine.
2. Garfield Memorial Silk Ribbon, measuring 6” x 2.5” headed “In Memoriam” with an impressively designed bust portrait of Garfield at center, reading below: “President U.S. / March 4th, 1881. / Died September 19th, 1881.” Extremely Fine.
3. Printed Broadside, measuring 10” x 6.25” headed boldly, “Garfield Obsequies, At Waukon, Monday Sept. 26, ‘81... the Procession will be formed by the Marshal, composed of Masonic Lodge, Co. I.I.N.G., the Schools, Citizens...” etc. This Program for the memorial services follows a listing of the major officers.
