c. 1840, 19th Century, A rather Bizarre and crude handmade single shot percussion-cap, muzzle-loading long gun, with a 41" iron barrel with dark black age patina, back-action percussion lock, Good. The stock appears to be made of American curly maple, 56" overall length and in good mechanical working order, no ramrod. The interesting overall design is similar to the early 18th century English Queen Anne-style Pistols, and some carbines that eliminate the need for a full stock. There are cane guns that also have similar features. It is possible that this long gun is among many oddities encountered where one can deduce that many gun makers experimented with different designs and this example may well be one of them. |
