c. 1840-65 Mid 19th century, American Patriotic Decorated Fully Hand-Painted Wood Hanging Cupboard with black painted interior shelves, by known local “Folk” Artist, Lew Hudnall, of Ohio, Choice Very Fine. Bold and vibrant in its early Patriotic American painted designs, this creation made mid to late 19th initialed “LH. ‘65” at center lower right on an American made wooden Cupboard, made to hang mounted on a wall. It measures 24.5" high x 18" wide x 5.5” deep with two interior shelves painted in black. The entire piece is painted in an antique mellow red having surrounding painted outer Stars in Blue and White. In interior vine is painted in soft gold around the outer cabinet door and once again in gold and green as a surround for an outstanding large 12” tall American Federal Era Eagle with Heraldic Shield at center of the Cabinet Door within a deep blue field having four Stars in the corners. Overall, the condition is highly attractive, having some age apparent, being primarily used for display. Solid, well crafted and ready to install to use or display. |
