c. 1770-1790 Revolutionary War to War of 1812 Use, Socket Bayonet Converted to a Short Sword, Fine.

Interesting Socket Bayonet made into a Short Sword with a 19" blade. The socket was reduced and modified to accept the current wood handle. Measures 27" in overall length. Collectors of this period know that nothing much useful was wasted as useful weapons. Many items were altered or modified into other useful deadly items. The wooden handle is well worn from lots of actual service use and the blade has a deep rust-brown natural patina. A good weapon for a period military display.
