c. 1820, Printed Advertisement, "United States Mail Coach TO PHILADELPHIA" with a large woodcut engraving, by Stockton & Stokes, Baltimore, MD, Framed, Choice Very Fine.

A classic early American Printed Advertisement, featuring a lovely large woodcut of a Four Horse drawn Coach with driver and passengers within. It has a printed text notice by the United States Postal Service about contracting to carrying mail, as well as six passengers. The print measuring 5" x 7" (by sight) against a black mat and professionally framed to an overall size of 7.5" x 9.5" for display. The Postal Service states: "superior Coaches and Horses, and have been particularly careful in the selection of their drivers." They mention that their coach line "gives passengers by this line a preference over those in any other from this place (New York)." Besides some very slight edge nicks, this impressive print is in very attractive, clean condition. A wonderful piece of Americana.
