American Patriotic Silk Embroidered Needlework Picture

c. 1820 Patriotic American Silk Embroidered Needlework depicting a nicely dressed young woman walking barefoot on a hillside, holding her drinking cup to an American Eagle to drink from held in her left hand, while carrying a floral branch in her right hand, with other Patriotic American motifs, Framed, Very Fine.

This colorful decorative fine Silk Embroidered Needlework measures 22.5 x 15.5”(by sight) being professionally framed with a handsome gold-gilt decorative wood surround to fully 23.75” x 16.5” being ready to hang on display. Exquisite needlework, with many decorative insets. The young woman is walking barefoot, apparently stepping on a Rattlesnake, under her foot a silk ribbon reads: “IN - ROY”. Behind her flowing dress in the background is seen a port town with several buildings and boats on the water during a lightning storm. A large burning flame behind her causes smoke to billow and rise, with an American Flag and Liberty Cap seen within the smoke. At left is a large tree with a bird perched that has feathers and wings in red, white and blue which appear American flag-like. Above, a large American Eagle fly’s down to drink from the blue cup being held up by the woman for the Eagle to drink. Overall very nice eye appeal, having just two small silk thins, one just below the eagle’s wing in the field and small holes at the cheek of the young woman. A most interesting and exceptional “Folk” style artwork, large in size and ready to hang on display.
