c. 1824 “Marquis de Lafayette” Triumphal Return Tour and Visit to the United States, Hand-Tinted Gold Gilt Portrait Brooch, Choice Near Mint. This ornately detailed Glass-Domed Gold Gilt Brass Brooch has a Hand-colored Engraved Portrait of Marquis de Lafayette facing left. This original 7/8" x 1" Brooch is in excellent condition, no reverse side pin. Its bright gilt brass frame has significant decorations and fancy outer design elements. The central Engraved Portrait is clean and sharp in detail, with some light Hand-tinting present. During Lafayette's 1824 to 1825 “Triumphal Return Tour” and visit to the United States, souvenirs and other commemorative items celebrated the great event. Many decorative items were worn for display, such as this beautiful quality Gold Gilt Portrait Brooch. Very Rare. |
