c. 1850 Pre-Civil War Era, Patriotic Red, White & Blue Jacquard Coverlet, “LIBERTY” with American Federal Heraldic Eagle Designs in Two Corners, Choice Extremely Fine.
A Patriotic American Coverlet created in colorful red, white & blue made of two loom panels. In the lower corners of each are featured the Federal Eagles with word “LIBERTY”. Two loom panels measure 35” each, stitched together to an overall size of 70” x 82”. The top edge is finished with hand-sewn binding. Both sides display a 6” floral border with an outer 3” fringe which does show some slight loss. The bottom edge is unfinished as made, yet it displays a beautiful 8” wide border showing Independence Hall (Philadelphia) and Tulip florals. This textile is highly decorative with red, white and blue thread, the white has a bit of natural tone with the blue and red colors remain quite vibrant and nice for display. |
