Benjamin Edes was born in 1732 in Charlestown, Massachusetts. Edes was a printer by trade and co-owned the Boston Gazette, one of the most prominent newspapers in colonial America. The Boston Gazette was known for its outspoken opposition to British policies and its support for colonial rights.

Edes was an active member of the Sons of Liberty, a patriot group formed in response to the Stamp Act of 1765. The Sons of Liberty organized protests, boycotts, and other forms of resistance against British taxation and tyranny.

As a printer and newspaper publisher, Edes used his platform to spread revolutionary ideas and mobilize public opinion against British rule. The Boston Gazette played a crucial role in shaping the narrative of the American Revolution in Massachusetts and beyond.

In 1770, Edes and his newspaper provided extensive coverage of the Boston Massacre, in which British soldiers killed several colonists. The Boston Gazette's reporting helped to galvanize public outrage and support for the patriot cause.

After the American Revolution, Edes continued his career as a printer and publisher. He remained active in civic affairs but gradually faded from the political spotlight.

Benjamin Edes is remembered as a key figure in the American Revolution and a leading member of the Sons of Liberty. His contributions as a printer and propagandist helped to advance the cause of American independence and shape the course of history.
