c. 1730 Hand-Colored Engraved Decorative Map of the Americas titled, “America verfertiget von John George Schreibern in Leipzig” with “California” shown as an Island, Germany, Framed, Choice Extremely Fine.

An attractive, well printed and very colorful original Map of the Americas, complete with its accompanying table at right from Schreiber's Atlas Minor. The Map itself measures about 9.5” x 7” (by sight), comes nicely matted and framed to fully 15.5” x 11.5” displayed under glass or Plexiglas. Nicely Hand-Colored in Red, Yellow, Green with engraved black print on clean period paper. Framed with a gold painted inner trim surround with outer black painted wood that shows typical wear. “California” is shown as an Island and is outlined in green with the extended westward land mass to Asia and to the Mississippi River, extending to the Straits of Anian. Oddly shaped Great Lakes Projection outlined in red and has many other interesting details. The Cartouche at lower left displays two Native American Indians barely clad, their clothes colored in red. Overall, a delightful highly detailed Map in full of color, and with the Warrior holding an arrow in his hand, with woven baskets shown representing friendly trade with the Native Americans.
