c. 1820-40 American School Oil Painting on Canvas, Portrait of a well dressed older Gentleman, possibly a Pastor or Judge with his right arm resting on a Book (likely a Bible or Law Book), while holding his reading glasses in his hand, Framed, Fine.

This American Oil Painting on Canvas measures about 24.5” x 29.5” (by sight) and fully framed to 32” x 37” overall. The subject portrayed is not known, it is not signed or dated, nor do we know the place. It is generic, depicting a serious looking Pastor or Judge’s Portrait image on canvas has been relined, housed within a more modern thick deckled gilt wooden frame and improved on a better stretcher, having minor scattered touchups, one fine thin line of scattered flaking/loose paint about 5” long at top right. Appears likely a prominent person, very well dressed, wearing his fine suit coat and vest. Ready to display and possibly of a person of note.
