c. 1870, American Oil Lamp with a Bronze Figural “Native American Indian Chief” displayed proudly standing on a slate base, measuring 22.5” tall, Very Fine.
Somewhat reminiscent of a Tobacco Store figure, yet this figure in not made of wood and has a wonderful natural overall bronze patina. This attractive lighting device appears to be of the Classic American Centennial period, a Patriotic Oil Lamp that is ornately designed, measuring about 22.5” tall complete, including the frosted glass with floral decorations oil reservoir, and its upper clear glass chimney with a nicely decorated top rim with four etched large American Heraldic Eagles. Its slate base measures 5” x 5”. The stylized Classic Native American Indian Chief holds a tomahawk in one hand and shading his eye while looking in the distance with his other. His bronze figure alone stands about 7.” tall, with ornate decorations and clothing with leg protectors, as shown. |
