1942 Book, “Button Classics” by L. Erwina Couse and Marguerite Maple, mainly dating from 1750 to 1915, Used, Very Fine.

Published in 1942, 2nd Edition. 249 pages, this “Button” reference book includes buttons from all periods up to the First World War, mainly from 1750 to 1915. Page 189 begins a short section titled: “Our Early Military Naval and Uniform Buttons” being illustrated in mostly black and white. Prior owner’s writing on the first page, and some pencil marks circling button collector’s numbers checking off acquisitions. Profusely illustrated and still a valuable wide-ranging reference for general button collectors. In generally good used condition, though some weakness of the binding from use. The authors categorize the buttons along thematic lines, such as French Buttons, Famous Women, Insects, Biblical, Military and much more.
