c. 1915 WWI, German Army Leather Document Holder, Complete, Choice Very Fine.

A complete and solid black leather Document Roll, measuring 14.5” x 14.5” when flat, with two adjoined leather fastening straps and a handle fully intact. Normal even outside wear from use, with expected aging of the leather straps, buckles and handles. Internally, the plush fabric shows some scattered loss. A German “Iron Cross” symbol is embroidered at the center. Rolls such as these would have been used to store documents to transport them, at the same time keeping them from having to be folded.
