c. Mid 19th Century, Cased Allen & Thurber, stamped "PATENTED 1845", 32 caliber, American Percussion 5-Shot "Pepper-Box" Pistol made by ETHAN ALLEN with a 2 1/2" barrel, with Accessories, Very Fine.

It has a 5-shot Iron barrel cluster and is stamped, "PATENTED 1845". The Iron percussion bar hammer is stamped, "ALLEN PATENT". The two-piece convex slab-sided wood grips are in nice Very Fine condition and exhibit very nice varnish with little wear. This pistol's Iron frame has Decorative Engraving and is a very good example in good mechanical working order. Its Rose wood box appears to have age but may not be original to the gun, although together it makes for a nice display. The accessories include: a Powder flask and (3) Containers and the box is lined in a dark green fabric. This type of pepper box revolver was very popular to carry during the California gold rush era.
