c. 1850, President Zachary Taylor Black Crape Mourning Rosette with an Engraved Printed Oval Portrait, Choice Near Mint. An original near mint, high quality Mourning Rosette that measures about 3.5” x 3.25” made of Black Silk Crepe, with an outstanding 1.25” x 1.5” Engraved Portrait titled “General Taylor” attached to the center. It’s possible this same engraving design was used on a Taylor Presidential Campaign ribbon for which a Cass-mate exists. Some trivial old prior mounting residue on back, while the face appears fresh and vivid, virtually as made. Extremely rare. |
