This historic and nicely designed United States Military Medal displays reflective, shimmering hard smooth semi-prooflike surfaces, with just a faint hairline on the left obverse field with sharp high rims as shown. The Obverse bears General Harrison’s quarter length bust portrait facing to the right, with the legend, “MAJOR GENERAL WILLIAM H. HARRISON”. The Reverse bears a Trophy of British Arms being Crowned by an Allegorical figure of “America” with legend which reads, “RESOLUTION OF CONGRESS APRIL 4. 1818”. In the exergue, is the event being commemorated, the Battle of the Thames which occurred on October 5, 1813. |
