1813-Dated War of 1812, Extensive Large Partly-printed Massachusetts Muster Roll with Additional Printed Instructions from Adjutant General William Donnison, About Fine.

Partly-printed Muster Roll for Captain Alfred Harver’s Company of Foot, 1813, measuring 22” x 9.25”, Fine. Listing about 40 men--Officers, Sergeants, Musicians, and men of rank and file, and noting who has muskets, bayonets, cartridge boxes, etc. This was a Massachusetts regiment. Printed instructions from Adjutant General William Donnison are on verso. On fine period paper; having irregular edges, scattered stains and fold separations.
William Donnison (1754-1834) was an American soldier for the Massachusetts Militia for more than 10 years, serving as an Adjutant General (1788-1813). Donnison fought in the Revolutionary War and was the aide to Massachusetts Governor Hancock in 1786 before becoming Adjutant General in 1788 and later serving in the War of 1812.

In 1786, Donnison was named aid to Massachusetts Governor Hancock, followed by an appointment as Judge of Common Pleas for 25 years. General orders from Boston headquarters of William Donnison, Adjutant General of the Massachusetts militia.
