August 18, 1800-Dated Federal Period, Partly-Printed Importer’s Sworn Oath, Ship “Northern Liberties”, Custom Collector Port of New-York, Choice Very Fine.

Partly-Printed Document, being an “Owner or Consignee’s Oath on entering of Merchandize”, 1 page on laid paper, measuring about 6” x 7.25”, this Oath is boldly Signed by “Rob(ert) Lenox,” where he swears repeatedly that the items listed on the invoice and bill of lading for the “Ship Northern Liberties” are true and genuine. Slight loss at upper left, where the original red wax seal had been opened. A rare original Merchant’s “Consignee’s Oath” Ship’s document format type.
