1749 The Pennsylvania Gazette, Newspaper Printed by Benjamin Franklin reporting Treaty of AIX-La-CHAPELLE Ending The War Of The Austrian Succession

May 4, 1749-Dated, Newspaper titled, The Pennsylvania Gazette, Philadelphia, contains British King George II’s PROCLAMATION declaring the historic Treaty of Aix-la-Chapelle, Printed by B. Franklin, Post-Master, and D. Hall at the New-Printing-Office, near the Market, Choice Extremely Fine or better.

This historic issue measures 13” x 8.25” with 4 pages, Complete, with a boldly inked and printed illustrated masthead and in excellent condition. This historic issue contains British King George II’s PROCLAMATION declaring the famous Treaty of Aix-la-Chapelle in full force, thus ending the long European War. This newspaper also publishes the final articles of the Treaty, along with the Proclamation. Fireworks and celebrations were displayed in many European cities and towns on the news of the Treaty. In the document, the British gain the reassertion of British commercial rights in theAmericas, much to the chagrin of Spain. An early Benjamin Franklin published newspaper, which have become quite scarce in the collector market, this issue in exceptional quality.
