Jonathan Trumbull, Sr., Signed as Connecticut Governor, 1783 Military Appointment for a "Minute Man" who responded to the “Lexington Alarm” of April 19, 1775

JONATHAN TRUMBULL, SR. (1710-1785). Connecticut’s First “Patriot Governor” as an Independent State, a merchant, judge, and politician; Trumbull held the distinction of being the only Patriot Governor at the start of the American Revolutionary War, serving as the colony’s 16th Governor (Oct. 1776 to May 1784), and the State’s First Governor after the Declaration of Independence from Britain.
May 16, 1783-Dated Revolutionary War Period, Military Appointment Signed, "Jonth. Trumbull", as Governor of Connecticut, Hartford, Framed, Vivid and Boldly Printed Choice Very Fine or better. Also Signed by George Wyllys, as Secretary. Document is 1 page, measuring 12.25” x 7.75” (by sight), nicely modern matted and vintage style framed to fully 16.25” x 11.75” viewed under special protective UV Plexiglas. With its full red wax and paper official Embossed Seal of the State of Connecticut is sharp, complete and fully intact. It reads, in part: "Thaddeus Learned" is accepted to be "Quarter Master of the Second Troop of Horse in the fourth Regiment of Light Horse in this State." This Appointment for Thaddeus Larned (also "Learned") (1756-1819), was a Connecticut farmer, land speculator, and magistrate. Larned was a "Minute Man" who responded to the Lexington Alarm, and he participated in the "New York Expedition." Governor Trumbull was a close friend and advisor to General George Washington, served as both a Colonial and Revolutionary War Governor of Connecticut, and as Paymaster for the Continental Army. Outstanding in eye appeal and ready to display.
