War of 1812 Canteen Decorated With Hand-Carved and Marked “U States” & Heraldic American Eagle on Its Sides

c. 1812 War of 1812 Period, Decorated Wooden Canteen Hand-Carved and Marked as “U States” and Engraved “Heraldic American Eagle”, Choice Very Fine.

c. 1812, War of 1812 Period wooden canteen, 7.25” x 2.75”, .75” spout, plug missing. One side has a sun above an heraldic eagle holding arrows and olive branch in its talons which is above a hand carved “U States” while the opposite side is not marked. Two interlocking wooden bands are positioned around the circumference. Faint patches of original gray-green paint are still visible. This military use Canteen is in overall excellent condition and of Museum quality for display.
