c. 1861 Civil War Period, Union Army XVIII Corps, 1st Division Pinback Badge with Its Original Hanger and Silk Ribbon, Ornately Hand-Engraved created on the Reverse Side of an 1861-Dated Liberty Seated Half Dollar, Silver, Complete, Choice Extremely Fine.

An exceptional quality, Civil War original Union XVIII Corps. 1st Division Hanger Badge ornately Hand-Engraved, created on the Reverse of a United States 1861-War Dated Liberty Seated Half Dollar. The authentic period Silver $1/2 Coin having excellent detail for the grade. Created with the reverse of the coin smoothed and recreated, replaced with an ornate rendering of the 1st Division's Badge design. The obverse of the coin shows evidence of a prior mount or pinback removal for reuse in its current decorated silver “Hanger” form. The entire badge is evenly toned silver-charcoal. Looped at top and suspended from a light blue Silk Ribbon attached to the top blank decorated pinback silver hanger is complete and fully intact. The top Silver pinback hanger is also original, fully intact and functional. An exceptional 1861 Half Dollar created into a Union Army XVIII Corps, 1st Division Pinback Badge.
