“My Dog and Gun.” Satyrical War of 1812 Era Broadside Printed & Sold No. 25 High Street, Providence Rhode Island

c. 1815 War of 1812 Era, American Satyrical Broadside Imprint titled, “My Dog and Gun.”, Boldly displaying a large Woodblock Engraving of a Marching Soldier and His Dog on the top half of the printed sheet, with a Poem presented in two columns of text below, Framed, Printed and Sold at No 25, High Street, Providence (Rhode Island), Fine.

An impressive delightful War of 1812 era printed Broadside on a heavy wove sheet measuring about 10.75” x 8.5”, professionally framed to fully 12.75” x 10.5”, displayed under special UV Plexiglas (not examined out of its frame). The wonderful woodcut of the Soldier marching, holding this musket with bayonet, while his “dog” is a smaller woodcut, shown facing the soldier, this image taking up the entire top half of the sheet. Below, the bottom half has a large bold black header reading “My Dog and Gun.” Below, in two columns is the typeset verse about... “A WEALTHY young ‘Squire of Falmouth we hear, He courted a nobleman’s daughter so dear; (and so telling a story ... on it goes). Typeset at the conclusion it reads: “Printed and Sold at NO 25, High Street, Providence (RI), where 200 other kinds are kept constantly for sale”. Printed on a full sheet with somewhat irregular,evenly worn, with small edge splits, outer margins. Very rare, in that we have not located another example.
