The Hand-wrought Iron surface has a deep rich dark patina from genuine age, with it's nicely shaped letter "S" and attached to its original deeply toned wooden handle exhibiting signs from actual use. This letter "S" Branding Iron was used on a Slave's body, sometimes during a public event, as a sign of ownership. The letter "S" stamp itself measures 2.2 inches high and 1.3 inches wide attached at the end to be placed into a fire, all combined with its wooden handle, in total overall measuring 19.2 inches long and displays well.
