c. 1910 Vintage George Washington Portrait after Gilbert Stuart, Chromolithograph on Tin, Large Color Advertising Sign for the “Providence Washington Insurance Company,” by The American art Works Co. of Coshocton, Ohio, Framed, Choice Extremely Fine.

Chromolithograph on Tin Advertising Sign features a fantastic image after the Gilbert Stuart Portrait of president George Washington. This wonderful Tin Lithograph Sign measures 17.5” x 23.5” and is framed in what appears to be its original, woodgrain painted frame and the overall size of about 20.5” x 26.5”. The text at the bottom of the sign reads “Providence Washington Insurance Company of Providence, R. I.”.

Beneath Washington’s portrait are the dates “1732” and “1799” (the dates of George Washington’s birth and death) along with “Incorporated 1799” (the date that the Insurance Company was incorporated). This Tin Lithograph Advertising Sign is signed by the lithographer, The American art Works Co. of Coshocton, Ohio. The lithography is of the very highest quality and sign is very well made. This rare sign is in excellent condition. The colors are bright and there are no significant areas of wear, loss, or damage to the lithograph surface. There is a single, trivial shallow dent at the peak of Washington’s forehead about the size of a nickel and a few tiny specks of surface loss, the largest being visible on the scans below at the right hand corner of Washington’s mouth. Overall, this beautiful Chromolithograph on Tin sign is very well preserved and ready for display.
