Engraving depicts a Southern Native American Indian couple standing bare-chested in a sparse landscape with two palm trees in the distance, the original engraved Copper-Plate outline is lightly embossed in the paper, with full margins present on all side. This attractive uncolored engraved image measures 11” x 7” (by sight), with its wide full original margins, framed in a decorative “distressed period looking wood frame, seen under special UV Plexiglas measuring fully to 16” x 11”. No artist or publication date, with a printed notation in lower left margin that reads: “Plate 224, Vol. 2, page 541.” Printed on clean crisp fine quality laid period paper with very a sharp illustration. The bare chested woman holds a small floral plant in one hand, while her male counterpart wears his princely feathered headdress with his bow and arrows slung over his shoulder. He holds in his left hand a sporting stick with a curious curled end. Prior Tag from “The OLD PRINT SHOP, New York” on the reverse. A beautiful print, framed and ready to hang on display. |
