In this printed Senate Speech, Senator John P. Hale details frauds perpetrated on the Navy Department and within the Navy in multiple, various Naval Contracts. This scarce Civil War date Imprint measuring 5.75" x 9", with 16 pages, plus original printed wraps, Complete. John P. Hale was a Republican Senator from New Hampshire, serving 1847-12853 and 1855-1865. His daughter, Lucy Hale, was secretly betrothed in 1865 to John Wilkes Booth, the Assassin of President Abraham Lincoln. Two light horizontal bends, well printed with a clean interior, the original outer wraps are intact yet partly separated with light wear from actual use.
