c. 1815 War of 1812 Era, Yellow Liverpool Creamware Pitcher, Depicting Two War of 1812 American Heros Black Transfers, (General Zebulon) “Pike” and “Captain (Isaac) Hull of the Constitution”, England, Choice Very Fine.
An important War of 1812 theme golden-mustard color Liverpool Pitcher that displays two black decorative portrait transfer prints adorned with hand-painted decoration at top and black trim. This patriotic pitcher was made in England for American export, measuring 6.5” tall x 5.5” diameter, having no repairs seen and is completely intact.
One side depicts a Portrait of General Pike with an inscription above his image that reads: “Be Aways ready to die for your country / Pike.” His image surrounded with cannon and drum in the foreground and American Flags and militaria.
The opposite side displays an American Flag Warship (USS Constitution) behind the Portrait of Captain Isaac Hull, above headed: “Captain Hull of the Constitution.” The flags in both of these transfer prints show 13 Horizontal Bars, yet have no Stars. The glaze over the black transfer prints shows light wear. No chips or cracks visible, and as expected the bottom rim edge has some wear. A pleasing historical Patriotic American theme War of 1812 Liverpool Pitcher in rare Yellow color for display.
