“Late 1700s / Revolution American” Museum Tag Noted, Seaman’s Dirk, Choice Extremely Fine.
This possibly German made Dirk measures about 16” overall, with an 11” “Spear-point” steel blade with a Brass fitted Wooden handle. Handwritten clearly readable Museum Deaccession number “8647.L.” in aged white paint along the edge of grip. The consignor notes that this weapon was deaccessioned from the De Young Museum in San Francisco, Calif. (no sales tag) but it does have an attached small white identification tag still attached reading: “Late 1700s / Revolution American”. Excellent smooth steel-gray patina to its large impressive blade. Grip and wood is choice showing only minor wear. Overall, very clean and excellent for display. |
