October 11, 1785-Dated Post Revolutionary War Period, Partly-Printed Document, State of Pennsylvania, February 24th,1785 Act “Donation Land” Distribution Surveyor General Form, to a Revolutionary War Soldier, Issued for “200 acres of Land and allowances,” Very Fine.
This important, fully completed original Document and Land Survey Map measures about 6.5” x 8”, 1 page. The Partially-Printed Document reads, in full;
“In pursuance of an Act of the General Assembly of the State of Pennsylvania, passed the 24th day of February, 1785, entitled, ‘An Act for directing the mode of distributing the Donation Lands, promised the troops by this Commonwealth;’ and by order of the Surveyor General, with the approbation of the honorable the Executive Council, I have surveyed, on the Eleventh day of October, 1785, the above described Tract of two hundred - Acres of Land...”. Above the typeset text is a Hand-drawing of the Tract of Land surveyed. There are folds with some pinholes having clear archival reinforcement to splits placed on the blank reverse and expected even tone. The black typeset printed text is bold and clear, the Survey Map and manuscript portions written in bold brown on fine quality watermarked laid period paper. The blank reverse side is Docketed, reading in full that; “Lot No. 1561 in district No. 8 of donation Lands / 200 acres and allowance / (to) Thomas Monday / private / March 3rd 1787”. The first of this “Donation Land” issued form we have encountered. Extremely rare if not unique. |
