Original historic pre-Revolutionary War Boston Town Map measures 10.25” x 8.25”, well printed in black on clean laid period paper. Engraved for the April 1774 issue of the London Magazine. Cartouche at middle-right states “A Chart of the Coast of New England, from Beverly to Scituate Harbour, including the Ports of BOSTON and SALEM.” This famous London magazine produced maps to familiarize its readers with the geography of important cities in the upstart American colonies. On February 9, 1775, the British Parliament would declare Massachusetts to be in a state of rebellion. Light folds. This impressive map is clean and attractive being ready to frame and display. |
