John D. Rockefeller & Henry M. Flagler Signed Standard Oil Trust Company Stock Certificates Dated 1888 and 1897

JOHN D. ROCKEFELLER (1839-1937). Industrialist, Founder of the Standard Oil Company; one of the wealthiest individuals in modern history and is often considered the richest person in history; The company grew to dominate the oil refining and distribution industry in the United States.

HENRY M. FLAGLER (1830-1913). Industrialist, Co-founder of Standard Oil, railroad magnate, real estate developer; a key figure in the development of Florida's Atlantic coast. He was instrumental in the development of the state's tourism industry, founding the Florida East Coast Railway; a a key figure in the development of Florida's Atlantic coast; Both Rockefeller and Flagler were titans of American industry.

1888 & 1897 Lot of TWO, Partially-Printed Signed Documents, without Hole Punch Cancels:

1. May 24th, 1888-Dated, Signed, "John D. Rockefeller" as President and "H(enry" M. Flagler" as Secretary, Standard Oil Trust Company Stock 1888, Brown $100 Certificate, having its original issued receipt panel remaining intact, attached at its left margin, Choice Very Fine.

2. The Second Certificate Signed, "William Rockefeller" as Attorney in fact, also by “H(enry) Flagler” as Secretary the Second dated October 19th, 1897. Each features ornate engraved vignettes, each measures about 8" x 10.75". Both of these Standard Oil Trust Company Stock Certificates are nice examples with some light folds and hand-stamp violet cancellations.

Recently, a single similar example of the brown 1888 $100 Stock Certificate Signed by John D. Rockefeller & Henry M. Flagler, having an original receipt remaining at its left margin, yet having four hole punch cancels through the U.S. Capitol vignette at center, sold at public auction for $4,386. This lot also contains modern reproduction images of John D. Rockefeller and William Rockefeller. (4 items)
