Civil War Era, Metal “Double-Burner” Canteen Style on wooden pole Parade Torch, (Wolfe)boro, N.H., Very Fine.

This 57” tall Parade Torch consists of a metal Canteen-shaped reservoir to hold liquid fuel to feed the wicks of two burners, the Canteen on a gimbaled hanger, attached to the end of a wooden staff. This Parade Torch would have been carried, the double burners would have made a bright and impressive display. This piece is as original as they come and even includes a paper label on the side of the reservoir that identifies the maker: “William Thomas, Sheet Metal Worker, (Wolfe)boro, N.H.”. Rare and unusual.
